How do my guests purchase gifts for me?
Your guests purchase gifts for you directly from the stores included on your registry. The transaction of purchasing and shipping an item will be made on the store’s website (your guests will be automatically directed to the store), not on MyRegistry.com. Once a guest has purchased a gift for you, they are asked by MyRegistry.com to mark the gift as ‘Purchased' to prevent other people from purchasing the same gift again.
The process of purchasing a gift is as follows: When one of your guests finds your registry, they have the option to select from any of the items that you’ve listed. When the guest decides what gift they want to buy, they simply click the ‘View or Buy This Gift’ button located in the same box as the item. They will then be directed to the store’s website where they can purchase the gift.
Whether they bought the gift or not, MyRegistry.com asks them to report if they purchased the gift. If they select one of the options under ‘No’ and click ‘Continue’, or do not answer at all, that gift will remain available on the registry. If they select one of the options under ‘Yes’ and click ‘Continue’, that gift will become unavailable for other guests.
You can watch a video to see how this is done. To do so, go to MyRegistry.com’s home page, select ‘Things To Do’ in the menu bar and select ‘How to Buy a Gift’ from the drop down menu. Gifts that display a store logo will be marked as purchased automatically after the cart purchase is complete. Please allow up to 30 minutes to see the gift marked as purchased.
